Where to Shop for a Boudoir Session | San Jose Boudoir Photography

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I figured that it was a good time to post some recommendations on where to shop for your boudoir session.

As you are planning your boudoir session, not everyone will go the traditional ‘lingerie route’. I have had some amazing sessions in pajamas, a fiance’s button down shirt, or just white sheets. What’s most important is that you’re in something you LOVE and feel confident in.

There are, though, some GREAT ligerie sites out there in the interwebs right now. These definitely range in pricing from moderate to extremely NOT moderate…. I’m including a range in my links below.

In general, I suggest sticking with something that fits your body well, colors that are softer or are neutrals (black, white, ivory, nude, etc), and avaoiding any bold patterns/colors. Some people can really pull off a bold color beautifully, but generally speaking I feel these photos look best when the lingerie is secondary to the subject and they do not distract from your face/assets… Anything textural definitely adds soft visual interest so I tend to be drawn to lots of lace items for boudoir sessions. If you are planning a session and it is NOT bridal, don’t be scared of the bridal lingerie section of websites! This usually just means lots of white + ivory, which are fantastic shades for lingerie in my natural light studio.
