Retrospect Images Photo Studio Loft | Santa Clara Wedding Photography

I am about 3 months into my new studio space and I am loving it. Having my own space with amazing lighting, always available for meetings + shoots is such a luxury and I am so thankful for this little loft.

My first studio space was in Oakland- it was adorable- a charming top floor of a victorian house- but not practicle. The rooms were pretty cluttered, the light wasn’t ideal, and due to the 30-45 minute commute I was never there.

This then led to th ‘nomadic photographer’ era. As my client base grew I was constantly in ym truck, driving all over the bay area- San Francisco, Concord, Oakland, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto- you name it. While I may love that little truck of mine, spending the majority of my time commuting just didn’t make sense- I was running out of time to spend shooting and editing, and spent more time roaming the bay area. Also, I really wanted to have a clean, beautifully lit natural light space to shoot in.  Not to mention how difficult it actually is to meet in coffee shops.  Step 1: Show up an hour early because you never know what parking will be like, how crowded it will be, and how long you will have to wait for a table.  Step 2: No tables open?  Stand awkwardly close to a table that looks like it might open up soon with your heavy albums in your arms and start shifting them around making ‘sad heavy things in my arms’ faces.  Step 3: Stare down said table if they have not moved within 10 minutes.  Step 4: Slip them a 20.  Not the most professional.

Then I found this little gem:

No? Not ‘Gem-my’ enough for you? Luckilly I could tell the light was phenominal even with all the clutter, and the building manager was willing to work with me on gutting it and re-doing the floors.

The studio will always be a work in progress, as I continue to add props/furniture, products, and eventually a workspace. But for now I am loving using this place for meetings, viewings, and portrait sessions. I also have the space available to rent out to creative professionals who need a place to shoot or meet with clients. You can view the rental website at http://theloft.retrospectimages.com
