Before I had a studio, I would meet clients in coffee shops. This is dangerous work, because you have to show up super early…. and give happy coffee drinkers dirty looks and grunt as you hold your heavy flushmount albums in search for a table … until they are uncomfotable enough with you to move and forfeit their table to you. That being said, I preferred coffee shops with LOTS of space. And pastries. LOTS of pastries.

One day I was finishing up a meeting with one of my other fantastic couples, we went to leave. Realizing we were parked in the same direction we walked together, still talking. Afar, in the distance…. I heard what sounded like someone running. Not a big deal.

Then they kept coming.

Then…. the distant cry of ‘WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!!!!’

I turned around, because, how likely is that that there would be more than one of us on the street…. and I have lured-away from her place of work in the coffee shop- the most adorable soon-to-be-client chasing me down the street.

I just loved how Kelly followed me out, and I could tell right away she was fun and spunky. After a much more formal sit-down meeting with her and Matthew and of course their dog Lou (oh lord, get ready for Lou…he is quite a handsome camera hog), I couldn’t wait to photograph them. I adore how playful these two are together.

I am SO excited to offer a brand new service to my wedding clients- a wedding registry for photography services, add-ons, and products.

So often, I have wedding clients who really value the importance of photography and printed products but they just can’t stretch their budget to accommodate wedding products/services beyond the basics.

When Mike and I were planning our wedding, I felt so awkward registering for gifts. We had been together 9 years already and had laready lived together for about 3-4 years. Add onto that the fact that my father is a chef and I have inherited a hoarders dream of kitchenware from him, registering for housewares felt a little unnecessary. We were so thankful for all of the gifts we received, but had I been offered a registry for additional photo products I know would have felt that to be a great alternative. Photography is the only tangible thing which remains from your wedding day expenses (except your spouse… but you didn’t pay for them… hopefully. Who am I to judge?) and investing in longer coverage, engagement sessions, wall art, a quality album, or other items gets your memories into tangible form for your family to enjoy for years to come.

They registry system is super simple to use and integrate into your wedding as you would with any other online registry.

I will be sending all contracted wedding clients a link to set up a registry- there is no pressure to utilize this, and if you choose to use it it is a free service. If you decide to register for products through the link, you simply just share the website with your wedding guests (invitations for bridal shower and wedding usually include registry information/websites).

SETTING UP YOUR REGISTRY:

1) Click the link I send to you in the Wedding Registry Email

2) Log in at the registry website using the username and password from the registry email. You will be taken to the client registry page, which will look like this:

2014-01-27_0006.jpg

Here you can upload a photo and edit your introduction paragraph to your wedding guests

3) To register for products/services/upgrades, click the check mark in the right corner of the item to add it to your registry

2014-01-27_0007.jpg

You will see green check marks to indicate items you have selected to be in your registry

2014-01-27_0008.jpg
(looks like someone likes canvases….)

THATS IT!

HOW GUESTS CAN PURCHASE FROM YOUR REGISTRY:

Include your registry link in your wedding or bridal shower invitations. Friends and family will visit the link and will view the registry as seen below:

2014-01-27_0009.jpg

They will click on an item they choose to expand and read more information:

2014-01-27_0010.jpg

Larger/more expensive items are broken down into denominations- just like your wedding guests would purchase one place setting of fine china as opposed ot the entire set, they purchase one, two, or however many denominations of a gift they see fit. The registry displays how many denominations are left available for purchase.

2014-01-27_0011.jpg

2014-01-27_0013.jpg

They will select the number of gifts they would like to purchase, and then will click to checkout:

On my end, I receive a receipt specifying the name of the person purchasing and the gifts/amount given. After you receive your wedding images, products can be designed using the images of your choice. In the event that the full amount of a gift is not reached, you still have the credit to apply to another gift. Registry gifts must be claimed (products designed and approved) within two months after receiving your wedding images.

This is a phenominal way to say on the cost of wedding photography- adding on rehearsal dinner coverage, engagement sessions, albums, extra hours of coverage, etc now can be gifted to you instead of coming out of your wedding budget. Bigger wedding budget = more cake. More cake = delicious.

Tomorrow, I have something special coming in the mail. I will wait by the door anxiously, and the delivery man will be creeped out at how rapidly I open the door upon doorbell-ringing.

I have a new album company, and my first album using this company is sceduled to arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait! I most likely get just about as excited for wedding albums to arrive as the wedding clients themselves do.

Henceforth (yes, henceforth.) I will be offering KISS albums for all of my flushmount albums. There are a few reasons why I chose to switch album companies, and I think you will see why.

2014-01-27_0005.jpg

1) These albums will truly stand the test of time.

Everything I strive for aims at preserving your memories- for you, for your future children, your grandchildren – and these babies are true heirloom quality.

Albums feature:

-Flushmount pages with highest quality printing and micro crease printing to eliminate gutters in the center of the spread
-Natural full grain leather covers
-Lifetime warrenty on the album through the manufacturer

I have specifically chosen this company for not only their quality and durability, but also their simplistic classic look which will outlast trends which may not stand the test of time.

2) The client proofing system is phenominal

Once I have your album designed, you will receive an email from the system with your login information. Here you can view each spread and add comments directly to each page. I am notified immediately upon receiving comments and I can make changes more accurrately and easily. The design process and overall timeline is simplified.

3) They are gorgeous.

The thicks, all white pages bound with high quality artisan leathers, holding within their pages the most beautiful memories.

Images in this post are from the manufacturer’s photos- I will be posting my own upon receiving samples, so be sure to check back 🙂

Mr and Mrs Webb, you love birds could not be any more adorable.

Since their engagement session in Napa , I had been looking forward to spending the day with these two.

Both sides of the wedding party got ready in Kate’s mother’s home in San Francisco (which had the most rad armoir ever… see dress photos…seriously, I tried to tie it to my back and walk it down the stairs to steal it, but my attempts were futile.) Some of my favorite photos of the day were during this preparation time. Kate’s mother rehearsed her heartfelt wedding toast tearfully as Kate had her makeup done, recounting emotional memories of the family’s move from Russia. The boys helped Chris to get ready in the other room, sharing drinks and laughs.

The ceremony took place at Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden, followed by portraits in the garden, at the beach nearby, and the Legion of Honor.

Love these two and I am so happy for you both!

I just love these two. Liz and Mike are so incredibly kind hearted, easy going, and so very loved by their friends and family. Their wedding day took place at the beautiful Vine Hill House- a venue who’s rolling vineyards, apple orchards, and charming estate house provided the perfect backdrop for this heartfelt day. It is rare for me to ever describe a wedding day as ‘ relaxing’…. wedding photographers by nature of the job are constantly “on”. Preserving memories is no easy task and theres a lot going on over the course of a wedding day, but this was one of the most relaxing weddings I have ever had the privilage to photograph. The ease of it all only speaks to how wonderful these two are, their focus truly being on soaking in and enjoying their day with their friends and family.

Rocky the dog graced our presence for portrait time. A mariachi band surprised the guests at the conclusion of the ceremony, late night s’mores for dessert, and a getaway trolley are just some of the unique touches these two incorporated.

Thank you so much for sharing your day- I loved every minute of it.
