I wanted to share a quick before/after of a space where I shot a recent portrait session to show clients what am impact a few subtle changes can make- trust your photographer and the results speak for themselves ๐
If I have an in home portrait session I will usually request the client to send me over some quick snaps of their home. This allows me to see the light in the space and plan for areas where we can shoot, and sometimes plan for suggestions on how to make the space photograph a little better. In this case, I brought along the bedding and sheer curtains from my natural light studio which were all white in order to brighten the space, bounce the natural light, remove the blue color cast, and create a neutral space so that the subjects really stand out in the frame. Thank you so much to my sweet clients for letting me make some quick changes upon my arrival – it really made a huge difference!
Do you have an in-home session coming up? Here are a few tips for how to prepare:
1) Send your photographer a few quick snapshots of your space- keep in mind that a big natural light source is key
2) De-clutter the shooting space. Remove digital clocks, phone chargers, PILES of… things…. , etc
3) Pale neutrals and whites really help to accentuate natural light – dark and bold colors will tint the light and leave color casts on you in camera. Consider swapping colored bedding and curtains for whites or paler colors/neutrals
4) Don’t be embarassed of sending photos of your home – we all have crazy lives, unwashed dishes, piles of laundry, etc. I will happily send you a snapshot of the current state of my car or garage to make you feel better ๐
